OSTEOPATHY

What Osteopathy is:

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy under the Allied Health banner. Osteopaths use a holistic approach to the diagnosis and treatment of all musculoskeletal conditions. The basis of Osteopathy is to support the body’s natural ability to heal itself. This allows us to consider all aspects of health to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients. Osteopaths are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

What we can help with:

Osteopaths are highly trained in the management of most conditions affecting the neuromusculoskeletal system. We take a holistic approach to assessment in order to determine the underlying cause of your pain. Some of the common conditions that we can help with are:

  • Back and neck pain

  • Posture-related concerns

  • Sports injuries and rehabilitation

  • Muscular strain and over-use injuries

  • Jaw pain and dysfunction

  • Pregnancy and post-partum care

  • Headaches and Migraine

  • Wrist and elbow pain eg. Tennis or Golfer’s elbow

CLINICAL HISTORY

Your Osteopath will take a thorough clinical history, which will include discussing your complaint, as well as any pre-existing medical conditions or injuries, and any other lifestyle factors that may be influencing your condition.

Osteopath performing Clinical assessment, injury assessment and diagnosis

Your Osteopath will then perform physical assessments, including posture, range of motion, strength, and any special tests that may be relevant to your presenting complaint. This assessment allows us to understand and diagnose your condition and create an appropriate treatment plan.
