OSTEOPATHY FOR FOOT & ANKLE PAIN

Managing Foot & Ankle Injuries

At Adapt Osteopathy, we know how frustrating foot and ankle pain can be — especially when it interferes with walking, exercise, or simply standing comfortably. Whether you’re recovering from an injury or dealing with long-term discomfort, we take a thorough and supportive approach to get you back on your feet.

Common Causes of Foot & Ankle Pain

ANKLE SPRAIN

Ankle sprains occur when the ligaments are overstretched or torn, usually due to rolling or twisting the ankle. This leads to pain, swelling, and instability.

PLANTAR FASCIITIS

Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the connective tissue on the underside of the foot, often causing sharp pain near the heel — especially during the first steps of the day.

ACHILLES TENDINOPATHY

Overuse or strain of the Achilles tendon (which connects the calf to the heel) can lead to pain, stiffness, and swelling in the back of the ankle.

SHIN SPLINTS

Shin splints are common in runners and people who increase activity too quickly. Pain is usually felt along the inner edge of the shin bone and may be linked to foot mechanics.

POOR FOOT BIOMECHANICS

Issues such as flat feet, high arches, or altered gait can place abnormal stress on the feet and ankles, leading to recurring pain and injury.

REFERRED PAIN FROM BACK, HIP OR KNEE

Sometimes pain in the foot or ankle is actually referred from elsewhere — especially if there’s nerve involvement or joint restriction higher up the chain.
