OSTEOPATHY FOR SPORTS INJURIES

Helping You Recover, Perform, and Stay in the Game

At Adapt Osteopathy, we work with athletes of all levels — from weekend warriors to competitive athletes — to help them recover from injury and perform at their best. Whether you’ve experienced an acute injury or are managing a recurring issue, we take a whole-body approach to get you moving confidently and safely again.

Common Types of Sports Injuries

MUSCLE STRAINS

These occur when muscle fibres are overstretched or torn, often due to explosive movements, inadequate warm-ups, or muscle fatigue.

LIGAMENT SPRAINS

Ligaments can be overstretched or torn during twisting or impact injuries, commonly affecting the ankle, knee, or shoulder joints.

TENDINOPATHY

Overuse injuries to tendons (such as Achilles, patellar, or rotator cuff tendons) can cause pain, swelling, and reduced function with repetitive movements.

JOINT ISSUES (Eg. shoulder, ankle, knee)

Impact, overuse, or instability can cause joint irritation, cartilage damage, or structural issues that need proper assessment and rehab.

SHIN SPLINTS AND STRESS REACTIONS

Common in running and jumping sports, these involve inflammation of tissues around the shin bone or early bone stress, often due to poor load management.

RECURRENT OR CHRONIC PAIN

Ongoing pain during or after sport may reflect imbalances, poor movement patterns, or unresolved injuries — all of which we assess thoroughly.

OSTEOPATHY FOR BACK PAIN

Here's what to expect with treatment at Adapt Osteopathy

We begin by listening to you. Our first step is to gather a comprehensive history of your pain and discomfort, understanding how it affects your daily life and what you hope to achieve.

We then perform a detailed assessment including a variety of special tests designed to help diagnose and understand your injury.

From here, we work with you to create a comprehensive and personalised management plan, including:

  • Hands-on treatment techniques to reduce pain quickly and restore range of motion

  • Education about your injury

  • A structured exercise program to regain strength and mobility and get you back to doing what you love

  • Advice on lifestyle changes to enhance your recovery

  • Regular check ins throughout the process to ensure we’re on track to achieve your goals
